About the Therapist, Lynne M. Springer, MSW

Lynne M. Springer has a Master's of Social Work (MSW) from Eastern Washington University, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Human Services from Western Washington University, is currently working on her PhD (Doctorate) in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy, and is a Registered Counselor (RC) in the State of Washington. She brings a rich and varied work experience that includes counseling individual adults, children, couples, and families around a variety of issues in her private counseling practice; counseling individuals, children, and families who have come to the attention of the state foster care system; providing in-home family preservation services; counseling women in crisis and/or transition; counseling couples and families as an adoption coordinator/counselor; working with community non-profit agencies at the community level in grants management, outcome measurement evaluation and program development; and working in a public school district.

Highlights of Work Experience

Lynne's private counseling practice, New Beginnings Counseling Service located in downtown Everett, has provided her the opportunity to provide counseling services to many men, women, children, couples, and families as they work through life's challenges. Prior to opening New Beginnings Counseling, Lynne had multiple work experiences that provided her with a firm foundation to provide counseling services from. For example, while working at Pioneer Human Services, Lynne provided in-home counseling to families in crisis and/or foster care families with the goal of keeping families together. While working at YWCA/Pathways for Women as a counseling intern/volunteer, Lynne worked primarily with low-income women helping them to find their own personal power to overcome problems in daily living, to overcome matters of depression and low self-esteem, and to develop and manage healthy relationships. While working at New Hope Child and Family Agency, Lynne provided individual and family counseling and education services around the issues and challenges of international adoption such as parent and adoptive child attachment and on the dynamics and challenges of becoming a bi-racial family. She also coordinated multiple international adoption programs and facilitated the adoption process for many families. While at United Way, Lynne was actively engaged in strengthening both community non-profit agencies and vulnerable community residents through the grants-making process, outcome measurement evaluation, community collaboration efforts around matters of self-sufficiency, and program development with her most recent accomplishment being the development of a free-tax preparation clinic that served over 500 low-income individuals and families linking them to much needed tax credits and other community resources.

Family Dynamics
Lynne is a stepparent and a twice adoptive parent (one child being adopted from the local foster care system and another child adopted internationally from China) bringing a wealth of experience to her clients in handling blended,  step and adopted family challenges.

Current Memberships
Lynne is an advanced generalist social worker, a registered counselor in the State of Washington, a member of the National Association of Social Workers, and an Associate Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
